A decision of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food shall lay down additional measures for the use of the terms referred to on a wine-growing holding when labelling Greek wines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

referring to a wine-growing holding,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
they are always used in conjunction with the name of the wine-growing holding and exclusively in wines with a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), provided that the following conditions are met:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The wine must have been produced exclusively from grapes harvested from vineyards on the holding and the wine-making must have been carried out entirely on that holding.
b) The vineyard parcels of the holding must be located within the corresponding PDO or PGI wine production area (with a geographical indication of a Regional Unit or less).
c) The parcels must be located in the same administrative unit (municipal unit or municipal\/local community). If part of the vineyard parcels of the holding also belongs to more than one municipal\/local community or municipal unit, subject to paragraph (b), then the entire vineyard parcel shall be counted towards the area of the area entitled to the specific indication.
d) The holding must include privately owned vineyards of at least 5 acres.
e) If the holding includes rental or contract cultivated vineyard parcels, the rental or contract time must be at least 10 years and be proven by official documents (e.g. contract).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the following should be met on a case-by-case basis:
The winery of the holding must be located within the corresponding administrative unit (Municipal Unit or Municipal \/ Local Community).
Especially for the term \u2018Mountain Estate(s)\u2019, all the parcels must be at an altitude of more than 500 metres.
\u2212 For the indication \u2018Mountain Vineyard(s)\u2019 All parcels must be located at an altitude of more than 500 meters.
\u2212 For the indication \"Pyrgos\" In the privately owned vineyard of the holding, there must be a building whose architectural form justifies the description with the indication \"Pyrgos\", as it is used in the specific area. The holding\u2019s winery must also be located within one of the holding\u2019s own vineyards.
\u2212 For the indication \"Monastiri\" The holding must really belong to an existing Monastery and its winery must be located in one of its privately owned vineyards.
\u2212 For the indication \"Castle\" In the privately owned vineyards of the holding must be located buildings or ruins of a historic Castle. The name of this castle can only be used when it is a place name and coincides with the name of the PDO or PGI wine of the area, but never at the same time for a PDO and PGI. The holding\u2019s winery must be located on one of the holding\u2019s own parcels.
\u2212 For the indications \"Villa, Mansion\". In the privately owned vineyards of the holding must be located buildings whose architectural form and character justify their inscription with the indications \"Villa\" or \"Arhontiko\" respectively. The holding\u2019s winery must be located on one of the holding\u2019s own parcels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These terms appear on the labels of wines in Greek and may be repeated in one or more official languages of the Union.
Every wine-growing holding interested in recognition of the right to use the , terms shall submit an application to the competent DAOK, where the vineyards are located, accompanied by the legal proof of ownership and, where appropriate, lease, which shall be forwarded, for examination, to the Committee on Wine Affairs.
During the procedure for examining the application, the competent Commission may request from the interested party any additional documentary evidence or evidence which it considers necessary and shall by decision approve or reject the relevant application.
In case of rejection, the Commission's decision should be fully reasoned.
The Commission decision shall be sent to the holding concerned with an acknowledgment of receipt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
